HISTORY OF THE ANTIQUARIANA
When Nancy Johnson Events Management acquired the Fair from Walter Larsen & Associates in 2011, she wanted to create a brand for the event. Kit Hinrichs was an avid book collector whom Nancy had known for several years. It was a natural to reach out to Studio Hinrichs to update the identity and communication systems for the biennial Fair.

The result for the 2012 Fair was a classic Firmin Didot letterform filled with marbleized paper commonly found in the end papers of antiquarian books. This combination of contemporary typography together with the 17th century marbleized paper captured the essence of the inaugural Johnson event. The Poster and other materials were printed by Blanchette Press of British Columbia. Paper Stock: 100 lb. Cool White, Mohawk Via, Smooth Cover.

For the 2014 Fair, Studio Hinrichs created the “A” based on Black Letter Typeface.  Blanchette Press again printed the Poster and related materials. Paper Stock: 100 lb. Cool White, Mohawk Via, Smooth Cover.

The 2016 Poster combined psychedelic imagery in contrast with the classical German typography, thus fusing one traditional 14th Century style with the Avant Garde imagery of the 60’s. Paper Stock: 100 lb. Cool White, Mohawk Via, Smooth Cover.

The Antiquarian “A” has been used on bookmarks, ads, posters, catalogs, and direct mail pieces for the Fair. Additionally, Studio Hinrichs has developed Posters and other promotional material for Antiques & Arts related events including Nancy Johnson’s Sacramento Antique Show and Nancy's San Francisco’s 20th Century Expo.
